Transcontinental Trip – Conoley Ospovat

Transcontinental Trip by Conoley Ospovat (release November 8, 2024) is available on Bandcamp, record shops, and eventually on other online purveyors.

Elegant jams, including an ambient work. Limited vinyl run of heavy-weight turquoise vinyl (color center labels, black jacket).

Release notes:
Opening with a jazzy, atmospheric strut, Transcontinental Trip’s title track sets the tone for this record as a more driving, bassline-focused affair than some of Ospovat’s recent downtempo excursions.

The taut restraint & open air vibe of loose drumming & field recordings for Hold On feel like a nonchalant response to Ricardo’s Sei Es Drum.

Then Conoley’s attention to melody & clever programming comes to the fore again on Sunbreaks. The tune is a moody dance floor builder full of twists & turns, before the EP closes out with the carbonated haze of Pacific Coast Rain.

All tracks written and produced by Conoley Ospovat.
Mastering by M.A. Spaventi at MaSpaventi Studio
Cutting/pressing by R.A.N.D. Musik

Awake Before Dawn – Conoley Ospovat

Awake Before Dawn by Conoley Ospovat (released July 26, 2024) is available on Bandcamp, and other online shops.

Awake Before Dawn is Conoley Ospovat’s sixth album. It is a collection of elegant dance, downtempo, and ambient electronic songs composed in his hometown of Lincoln, Nebraska in late 2022 and early 2023.

He was getting up very early on cold winter mornings around this time. The title track was composed as the sun was coming up over the frozen Nebraska landscape.

Several of the tracks were written in preparation for a tour in Chile (and debuted in Conoley’s live sets there), and several after returning from that tour. Some of the interactions he had on that trip lead to major spiritual realizations/awakenings. ‘You Don’t Need To Worry’ (both versions) is a product of that catharsis.

Representing a variety of compositional/production modes and the excitement of impending movement and the long-awaited arrival of spring, these songs are concoctions flowing out of the power of seasons, extremes in climate, life in one’s hometown again after 15 years abroad, epiphanies, and the magical energy of synthesizers and drum machines.

Perhaps listening to this collection of songs will speak to you in some of these voices, or inspire something inside of you.

Special shout-out to Ian Hyman in Portland, Oregon for lending his time, experienced ears, listening environment, and high-grade pre-mastering touch.

All tracks written and produced by Conoley Ospovat.
Mastering by M.A. Spaventi at MaSpaventi Studio
Additional processing by Ian Hyman (tracks 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and 8)

Dreamin’ – Conoley Ospovat

Dreamin’ by Conoley Ospovat will be released in vinyl and digital formats on April 26, 2024.
It will be available on Bandcamp, and in select record shops.

After a relocation to the Pacific Northwest, Continental Drift’s
Conoley Ospovat turns in a laid-back EP befitting his verdant environs.

Even the most energetic of the selections, Last Month in Lincoln from
the B side, is anchored by an understated groove bopping along far
below the floating chimes & rolling bass-line at its forefront. The pace
across this record is often reminiscent of Melbourne’s Analogue Attic
showcases.

Harwood Summer Nights dispenses with percussion altogether, while
Dreamin’ (Daydream Mix) reimagines the titular downtempo breakbeat
tune as heard through a struggling FM radio receiver a little further up
the beach.

All tracks written and produced by Conoley Ospovat.
Dreamin’ vocals by Lindsey Flowers.

Mastering, lacquer cut, and pressing by R.A.N.D. Musik.
Distribution by Inch By Inch Distribution.

Shift into The Rogue – Pier Bucci (cdrift.026)

‘Shift into The Rogue’ by Pier Bucci was released in digital and vinyl formats on
February 10, 2023. It is available on Bandcamp, digital outlets, and in select
record shops worldwide.

‘Shift into The Rogue’ presents two pieces from an unreleased album Pier Bucci
recorded using only one synthesizer for all parts of the entire project – his longtime
companion, the Moog Rogue.

Combining his unique musical and rhythmic sense, love for alternative electronic
music from the 90’s (particularly sounds coming out on WARP Records at the time),
and the technical abilities gained from years in the studio, Pier has crafted
emotional, groovy, raw yet nuanced works – inspired by ‘the analogue, alternative,
positive, very beautiful music from that time’.

The result is a
masterwork, and a testament to the artistic and technical prowess of

this maestro of electronic music.

‘After 25 years of having this Moog in the studio, I decided to celebrate it’s 25 years
with me by doing an album only using the Moog Rogue. And that was the challenge
for me. To do an EP, an album, using only one instrument.

Why the Rogue? Why analogue? Well, it’s a little keyboard. Very simple. Very, very
simple. But – and I don’t know how – it is emotional. I wanted to create emotions,
and I don’t know.. it was giving me a nice feeling, to be able to make every sound
with this Moog. – Pier Bucci

Pure Intuition – Conoley Ospovat (cdrift.025)

‘Pure Intuition’ by Conoley Ospovat was released in digital and vinyl formats on November 4, 2022.

It will be available on Bandcamp, digital outlets worldwide, and select record shops.

A Deep Lake is an easy, breezy, sky-blue house tune with a healthy
swing and a carefree bassline. The unhurried slow-build evokes just
the kind of outdoor jam that Ospovat frequents.

There are some small surprises as the record goes on, though.
The more dense, acidic vibe of Thick Air is a club-friendly workout,
while Chasonsa Vibes has an earthy groove with live drums and
half-sung vocals.

The sprightly, Kompakt-esque title track closes out this vibrant EP.

All tracks composed, produced, and mixed by Conoley Ospovat.
Chasonsa Vibes vocals by Chasonsa Women’s Group, Zambia.

Mastered by M.A. Spaventi at Spaventi Studio.
Lacquer cut and pressing by R.A.N.D. Musik.

‘Soul Travels’ by Conoley Ospovat will be released in digital and vinyl formats on September 2, 2022.

It will be available on Bandcamp, digital outlets worldwide, and select record shops.

This three-song EP is a thought-provoking, scintillating, surging trip that brims with presence and movement.
‘I’m Still Here’ juxtaposes driving beats and stuttering riffs with samples and vocoded vocals.

Track two, ‘Thoughts Without Words’, is a deep, slushy, percussive strut with some twists and turns.

The EP is rounded out by the title track ‘Soul Travels’; a stripped-down spacious techno jam built around a long vocal sample and sparkling synths.

Perspectives Shift – Conoley Ospovat (cdrift.023)

‘Perspectives Shift’ by Conoley Ospovat will be released in digital and vinyl formats on July 1, 2022.

It will be available on Bandcamp, digital outlets worldwide, and select record shops.

Number 23 from Continental Drift Records is all about the journey.
These are slowly evolving groovy tracks, never staying totally loopy and often being a bit
sly about the direction they’re headed.

‘Perspectives Shift’ begins as a floating tune centering around a
wandering bassline melody; it gradually churns thick with rhythmic action and counterpoint chords.

‘Deep Summer Techno’ is trippy acid that plays with time and space, floating and dancing in the languid,
stimulating heat and lush green of
a midwestern summer.

Finally, the whole B-side is dedicated to Conoley’s re-work of labelco-owner and
dear friend c_olvrin’s ‘Cryogenic Freezing Of Friends’, a
more Chicago-house excursion
full of groove and many-textured
details.

A1 and A2 composed, produced, and mixed by Conoley Ospovat.
B1 composed, produced and mixed by c_olvrin. Remix and additional production by Conoley Ospovat.

Mastered by M.A. Spaventi at Spaventi Studio.
Lacquer cut and pressing by R.A.N.D. Musik.

Windows to the world where there have only been walls.

Cities, nature, cultures, people; all moving together in inexorable techno rhythm.
